Steven Merkel- One September 11th story

AM 1690, The Voice of the ArtsSteven Merkel should be dead. Merkel is the General Counsel of Cantor, Fitzgerald, the finance firm based on the top floors of the World Trade Center that lost over 500 employees on September 11th, 2001. That morning Merkel made a series of out-of-character stops on his way to work that delayed him. If he’d gotten there 30 seconds earlier he would have died. He tells the story of what happened to him that day, of talking to friends as they faced death, of seeing people throw themselves from the building and losing friends who will be “forever young.”
