Politely Disruptive


Politely Disruptive is the brainchild of former Black Crowes and Train bass player Johnny Colt and Adult Swim executive Michael Ouweleen.

Former guests of Politely Disruptive Radio include composer Eddie Horst (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Collective Soul), infamous Atlanta graffiti artist Hense and many more.

Politely Disruptive airs every Tuesday and Thursday at 4PM.

    This week Johnny is away reporting on homelessness in Augusta, Georgia for CNN. Michael reaches Johnny by phone to ask him about the dire situation in Augusta. In this episode Michael also speaks to us about the music of the legendary Raymond Scott, a musician ahead of his time in many respects, but most notably the soundtrack behind most classic Looney Tunes cartoons. Producer Stephen Key sits in for Johnny to defend iPods with Michael and also for a great Victrola moment.

    Remembering Steve

    In honor of the late Steve Jobs, Johnny and Michael pay tribute to the man who made a great impact on both of their lives. After getting a list of Jobs’ favorite albums, the two decide to take their favorite songs from each album. Our heroes discuss the impact of Steve Jobs on there own lives and how closely his music corresponds to his work ethic. As always, the two defend their iPods and listen to the Victrola!

    This week on Politely Disruptive Radio Michael and Johnny have Amy Palmer in the studio. Palmer is from the graphic design firm Artifact. Based out of Atlanta and Los Angeles, Artifact uses a wide variety of media to shape the look of their client’s projects. The guys speak with her about business in these tough economic times and how to represent and maintain a creative and energetic staff. The guys defend their iPods of course and wrap it all up with a Victrola moment.

    On This episode of Politely Disruptive Radio the guys call up The Victrola Repair Service shop in Johnsbury, VT. Michael and Johnny speak with shop owner Rod Lauman about the history of Victrolas and the first years of recorded music history. We also listen to some very early recordings as Mr. Lauman plays some of his own favorites in the shop. Michael and Johnny defend there iPods of course and ask Mr. Lauman to host the Victrola moment.

    This week Michael and Johnny meet with the director behind Atlanta’s TEDx talks. Short for TechnologyEntertainmentDesign, we hear what it takes to host and produce these symposium like conversations here in Atlanta. The guys also take a look at music in car commercials, and of course defend their iPods and have a Victrola moment.
