Hal Needham, Drive Invasion and Dex Romweber

This week Jon celebrates Drive Invasion 2011, the big drive-in movie, car and music festival Sept. 4 at the Starlight Six Drive-In Theater in Atlanta. They’re showing a mess of drive-in flicks including “Smokey & The Bandit.” Hal Needham, the director of “Smokey & the Bandit,” is gonna be at the Decatur Book Festival promoting his book “Stuntman!: My Car-Crashing, Plane-Jumping, Bone-Breaking, Death-Defying Hollywood Life.” Needham calls in and talks about his amazing career. Jon also talks to Dex Romweber. He’s best known as one half of the scorching rock duo Flat Duo Jets. He’s currently performing with his sister Sara as one half of the Dex Romweber Duo. Ralph Bakshi and Clark Wilson

Groundbreaking animated film director Ralph Bakshi calls in on the Bat Phone. He’s the guy responsible for adult animated classics like “Fritz The Cat” and “Heavy Traffic,” and animated fantasy films including “Lord of the Rings” and “Wizards.” Bakshi, who’s appearing at Dragon*Con this year, talks about his amazing career and working with the likes of Frank Frazetta, Stan Lee and the Rolling Stones. We also hear from Clark Wilson. He’s going to be providing the live organ soundtrack to the 1920s silent film “The Mark of Zorro.” It takes place August 25th at the Fox Theatre. Music comes from Sergio Mendes, Jimi Hendrix and others.

The 4th Annual Elvis Show

Jon is a geek for a lot of things, everything from collectible toys and comics to music and movies. But he’s a super fan of Elvis Presley. The King passed away 34 years ago this August 16. So it’s time for the annual Elvis episode. In the past we’ve had several friends and associates of Elvis on the program. This time we have Elvis himself! Jon uncovers some amazing Elvis interviews from 1956, the King’s first big year. A hunka, hunka Elvis tunes make up the playlist, including a rare version of Elvis singing Del Shannon’s “Runaway” in Las Vegas with Del Shannon in the audience.

Piper lets loose on “The PCK Show” with an exclusive interview and talks about his impact on pop culture, including his role in the John Carpenter sci-fi classic “They Live.” We also hear from Daniel “James Bond” Craig about his new film “Cowboys & Aliens.” Cool cuts come from the Chairmen of the Board, Bow Wow Wow and the Blues Brothers.

Old-school rasslin’ fans will be experiencing NWA Wrestling Legends FanFest Weekend right here in Atlanta August 4-7 at the Airport Marriott Hotel. Many of the big names from back in the day will be there, including Roddy Piper, Jerry Lawler, Mr. Wrestling II and the legendary Terry Funk. Funk went onto carve out a film career in movies like “Road House” and others. And speaking of legends, you don’t get much bigger than Dolly Parton. The singer-songwriter and entreprenuer is coming to Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park on Aug. 3. She’ll be calling into the show talking about her amazing career, the movie she recently shot here in Atlanta, and much more. Jon spins lots of Dolly and a duet of the Doors classic “Roadhouse Blues” featuring Jim Morrison and John Lee Hooker.

Captain America and Get Delicious

It’s a big week for comic geeks as “Captain America: The First Avenger” hits the big screen. Chris Evans, the film’s star, talks about suiting up as the good Captain. Jon gabs about some of the new Captain America toys and collectibes out right now, as well as some San Diego Comic Con exclusive collectibes fellow nerds can’t wait to get their mitts on. And our old pal Jim Stacy, a multi-talented entertainer and performer, is at it again with “Get Delicious Again,” his food special on PBA 30. Jim comes in the studio and chats about the new show. Jon spins some James Brown, Weird Al and cuts from the “Captain America: The First Avenger” soundtrack.
