This week Jon sets sail with Andy Levine the founder of Atlanta-based specialty cruise company Sixthman. They’re the folks behind amazing themed cruises like the Elvis Cruise, the Kid Rock Cruise and much more. Huge cruises are on Sixthman’s horizon, including those themed around Weezer, Turner Classic Movies and Kiss. And speaking of Kiss, to celebrate the upcoming Kiss Kruise, Jon revisits interviews he’s had with Kiss founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Music comes from G. Legendary psychedelic pop artist Peter Max calls in on this week’s show to promote his appearance at the Wentworth Galleries at Phipps Plaza and Perimeter Mall on September 10. Local country music impresario Slim Chance of Slim Chance and the Convicts swings into the studio to talk about the big George Jones 80th Birthday Show at the Star Bar on September 10. It benefits The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta. So Jon spins plenty of George “The Possum” Jones, as well as some Led Zeppelin as requested by Peter Max.

Cassandra Peterson, better known as her alter ego Elvira, and Christopher Lloyd, best known as Doc Brown in the “Back to the Future” trilogy, both call in. In addition to her career as Elvira, Peterson talks about working with Fellini, talking shop with Pee-wee Herman and kissing Elvis. Christopher Lloyd explains the staying power of “Back to the Future” and talks about the crazy days on the set of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and much more. This week Jon celebrates Drive Invasion 2011, the big drive-in movie, car and music festival Sept. 4 at the Starlight Six Drive-In Theater in Atlanta. They’re showing a mess of drive-in flicks including “Smokey & The Bandit.” Hal Needham, the director of “Smokey & the Bandit,” is gonna be at the Decatur Book Festival promoting his book “Stuntman!: My Car-Crashing, Plane-Jumping, Bone-Breaking, Death-Defying Hollywood Life.” Needham calls in and talks about his amazing career. Jon also talks to Dex Romweber. He’s best known as one half of the scorching rock duo Flat Duo Jets. He’s currently performing with his sister Sara as one half of the Dex Romweber Duo. Groundbreaking animated film director Ralph Bakshi calls in on the Bat Phone. He’s the guy responsible for adult animated classics like “Fritz The Cat” and “Heavy Traffic,” and animated fantasy films including “Lord of the Rings” and “Wizards.” Bakshi, who’s appearing at Dragon*Con this year, talks about his amazing career and working with the likes of Frank Frazetta, Stan Lee and the Rolling Stones. We also hear from Clark Wilson. He’s going to be providing the live organ soundtrack to the 1920s silent film “The Mark of Zorro.” It takes place August 25th at the Fox Theatre. Music comes from Sergio Mendes, Jimi Hendrix and others.

Jon is a geek for a lot of things, everything from collectible toys and comics to music and movies. But he’s a super fan of Elvis Presley. The King passed away 34 years ago this August 16. So it’s time for the annual Elvis episode. In the past we’ve had several friends and associates of Elvis on the program. This time we have Elvis himself! Jon uncovers some amazing Elvis interviews from 1956, the King’s first big year. A hunka, hunka Elvis tunes make up the playlist, including a rare version of Elvis singing Del Shannon’s “Runaway” in Las Vegas with Del Shannon in the audience.
